Teaching is something that I never thought would become my profession. I grew up riding and as a young adult. I moved to Florida to continue my dream as a horse trainer. Over the years I found myself enjoying giving lessons more than riding. This led me back to school. Over the last four years literacy has been my focus.
Making Connections:
As teachers and tutors, we have many moments that truly keep us doing what it is we are doing. There have been so many in my years as a teacher. I have forgotten more than I remember. Yet, the ones that I remember will stay with me always. Collaborating and sharing these positive moments along with lesson planning questions is why I started this blog. Last week I had a student who has a hard time engaging in lessons. We had the best discussion on the ‘Why?’. These are sometimes ‘hard conversations’. After we brainstormed, my student went on to spell words and sentences with accuracy. I will never forget what they said at the end of the lesson. “Well you don’t see that every day!” Not only did they leave feeling confident, but I also received a hug 🙂 Looking forward to hearing what worked for your student(s) and collaborating on literacy.
